    About this service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of the WAWL Chambers website and the free will-drafting tool accessible at wawlchambers.com (collectively, “the Service”). The Service is operated by WAWL Chambers, an Advocates & Solicitors firm registered in Malaysia.

By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

  2. 02

    No solicitor-client relationship

Use of this website, including the free will-drafting tool, does not by itself create a solicitor-client relationship between you and WAWL Chambers. A solicitor-client relationship is only established upon our express written confirmation following a separate engagement process.

Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice. The information provided is of a general nature only and may not apply to your specific circumstances.

  3. 03

    Will-drafting tool

The will-drafting tool generates a template document based solely on the information you input. The output is a draft for your review and is not a legally valid will.

A will executed by an individual of or above eighteen (18) years of age is only valid under the Wills Act 1959 (Act 346) if signed by the testator in the presence of at least two witnesses who are present at the same time, and who each attest and subscribe the will in the presence of the testator. Muslim Malaysians should note that the Wills Act 1959 does not apply to their estate, which is governed by Faraid principles under Islamic law.

We strongly advise you to consult a qualified lawyer before executing any draft generated by this tool, particularly if your circumstances involve cross-border assets, business interests, blended families, or dependants with special needs. The complexity of will drafting varies significantly depending on the nature and location of your assets.

  4. 04

    Paid services

WAWL Chambers offers an optional lawyer review and in-person witness session for RM 1,000 (“Witness Session”). Fees are payable upon booking and are non-refundable once the session has taken place.

All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

  5. 05

    Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not: submit false or misleading information; attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service; use the Service to distribute malware or engage in any activity that disrupts or damages the Service; or use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service without our prior written consent.

  6. 06

    Intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, design, graphics, and software, is owned by or licensed to WAWL Chambers and is protected by Malaysian and international intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this website without our prior written consent.

The draft will generated for you by the tool is yours to use and retain. We do not assert ownership over the output document.

  7. 07

    Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WAWL Chambers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including any draft will that has not been reviewed and witnessed by a lawyer.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount paid by you to WAWL Chambers in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where no fees have been paid, our aggregate liability shall not exceed RM 500.

  8. 08

    Third-party links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. Those websites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by WAWL Chambers.

  9. 09

    Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify you by posting a notice on the website. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

The date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were last updated.

  10. 10

    Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
